The eighteenth and nineteenth century correspondence archive

Legal Documents [series LEG; 19 boxes & 1 vol]

This series of nineteenth century legal papers, mostly contractual, covers a wide range of subjects. Most notable are articles of partnership for both Baring Brothers London [1805-56; earlier and later ones are in DEP] and Liverpool [1832-50], as well as for early Baring family partnerships at Exeter or arising out of the business there. There are also counsel's opinions on a wide range of commercial matters; property deeds; papers relating to court actions, especially those in the 1890s arising out of Barings' underwriting of Argentine securities; and a letter book relating to the estate of Senator William Bingham, 1804-23.
