Security Certificates
Bond and share certificates have been gathered together from other parts of the archives to form an 'artificial' series called 'certificates'. Many are specimen certificates, created at the time of a bond issue. Others relate to defunct businesses or to bond issues which went into default and were therefore classed as 'worthless'. The certificates date from the early nineteenth century and total about 1000 items. They have been conserved by encapsulation in melinex.
