Russian Papers
This large collection of papers relates to Barings' work as financial agents of the Imperial Russian Government during the First World War. It contains files covering the financial arrangements reached between the British and Russian governments and to the orders and payments made by the Russian government in respect of its purchase of war munitions. The collection is 'artificial' in that it was created shortly after the First World War when all papers relating to the Russian accounts were collected from different departments for safe keeping at a single location.
