  • 1844: White recorded as living at 15 Hanover Street, Peckham
  • 1850: White working with Thomas Baring, senior partner
  • 1852: White travels to Buenos Aires with Major Ferdinand White
  • 1856: White travelling to Paris
  • 1857: White travels to Buenos Aires again
  • 1862: White travels to Mexico
  • 1863: White returns to London
  • 1866: Manager of Stock Department
  • 1870: White is senior confidential clerk
  • 1872: White retires from Barings, succeeded by William J Walpole
  • 1889: White dies at Torquay
  • 1977: A portfolio of 104 watercolours by George White acquired by Barings at auction
